What Does the Bible Say about Church Membership? Our Commitment Form at Acts Church of Maricopa

Writer: Jonas CroissantJonas Croissant

Many Christians are confused or uninformed regarding the biblical doctrine of church membership. Church membership is biblical and important for all Christians called to commit to the New Covenant expectations for their life as it relates to loving and serving the local church of Jesus Christ.

This is largely due to our worldly society which promotes relationships without any commitment, spurns or attempts to redefine marriage, promotes individualism and encourages rebellion against God-ordained authority. The Church, on the other hand, is to be filled with biblical commitments of a New Covenant church member, celebrating the unit of God ordained unions, a communal family of believers who submit to the pastor-elders appointed by God to lead the saints of a local church.

As a Bible teacher once put it, we should "stop dating the church" and be married, that is become church members, officially committed to the work of Jesus Christ in a particular church and committed to loving and serving our brothers and sisters in Christ.

Here is a sermon recently preached at Acts Church of Maricopa to demonstrate the biblical case for church membership and its practice impact on Christians and local churches:

Here is our The Commitment of a New Covenant Church Member form to become a member of Acts Church. Please prayerfully meditate on it, sign the document, and provide it to us.

If you desire to become a member of our church, this is wonderful. Please talk to us when you are ready or if you have any questions. We will be glad to serve you.

Blessings in Christ,

Jonas
